Choi Hyun-seok, who recently became a maternal grandfather, caught everyone’s attention by playing the role of a strict father-in-law, declaring that there is no such thing as a “free pass” face when meeting the parents.
On the May 10th episode of JTBC’s ‘Please Take Care of My Refrigerator’, Go Woo-rim, husband of the ‘Figure Queen’ Kim Yuna, appeared as a guest. Both Go Woo-rim and Son Jong-won drew attention for their similar vibes, often described as the “free pass” look (the kind of look parents-in-law love).
As the only chef among them who has gone through the formal process of meeting the in-laws, Choi Hyun-seok was asked if the two truly had “free pass” looks. He gave a strict answer: “Basically, from a father-in-law’s perspective, there is no such thing as a free pass. At most, it’s more like, ‘Maybe I can trust them with my daughter’.”
However, when asked specifically if sons-in-law like Go Woo-rim or Son Jong-won would be okay, he immediately beamed and said, “Oh, they’re definitely a free pass!”
On the flip side, when asked to pick a chef who would be rejected right at the door, Choi Hyun-seok scanned the room with a hawk-like gaze.
He pointed to ‘Napoli Matfia’ Kwon Sung-jun, saying, “I personally adore these chefs, but it’s you.” While Kwon Sung-jun tried to appeal by mentioning he doesn’t smoke or drink, Choi joked, “He’s capable and makes plenty of money, but I feel like he’s the only one who would be enjoying the luxury.”
Choi Hyun-seok’s daughter, model and influencer Choi Yeon-soo, married DickPunks member Kim Tae-hyun, who is 12 years her senior, last September. She announced the birth of her child on the 7th. Born in 1972, Choi Hyun-seok has received many congratulations for becoming a grandfather in his 50s.
