LE SSERAFIM has unveiled a shocking new look that brings to mind the story of Frankenstein!
On the 12th, LE SSERAFIM (Kim Chaewon, Sakura, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha, and Hong Eunchae) shared photos and videos from the “BIRCH SCAR” version, the first visual concept for their second full album, ‘PUREFLOW pt.1’, via their official SNS.
The released video boasts a mise-en-scène reminiscent of a 19th-century classic film. The five members, dressed in antique attire, appear in a forest with an eerie vibe. A large hand covered in scars chases the members, creating a bizarre atmosphere. While they seem ordinary at first, LE SSERAFIM transforms into different beings once night falls, showcasing non-human features like odd-colored eyes, long sharp nails, pitch-black skin, and metal ornaments embedded in their heads.
This content visualizes inner human fear and deficiency through “Creature” imagery. The stitched scars and unrealistic hand makeup strongly evoke the classic novel ‘Frankenstein’. Rather than hiding or denying their monster-like appearances, LE SSERAFIM reveals them without hesitation. A group photo of the five members, all sharing similar scars, radiates a strong sense of bond.
The individual cuts highlight each member’s unique charm. Kim Chaewon embraces herself with an eerie hand while her long blonde hair flutters. Sakura stares directly into the camera with red and blue odd-eye makeup. Huh Yunjin boldly shows off black, sharp hands, and Kazuha has transformed with a short haircut for the first time since her debut. Hong Eunchae fully embodies the ‘Frankenstein’ motif with scars on her forehead and cheeks.
LE SSERAFIM plans to sequentially release various concept photos and videos that offer a glimpse into the new album’s mood until the 14th.
Meanwhile, LE SSERAFIM’s second full album ‘PUREFLOW pt.1’, releasing on the 22nd at 1 PM, captures the will to face fear, move forward, and embrace change.
The album will feature a total of 11 tracks, including the title song ‘BOOMPALA’ and the lead single ‘CELEBRATION’, which was released on the 24th of last month. All members participated in the songwriting process and are listed in the credits.
