Actor Kim Jung-tae's Wild Method Acting: Dining with Gangsters and Witnessing Brawls for His Role!

Actor Kim Jung-tae revealed on MBN’s ‘Dongchimi’ that he didn’t hesitate to meet with gangsters to perfect his acting.

During the episode of ‘Dongchimi’ aired on the 2nd, Kim Jung-tae shared the behind-the-scenes story of his role in the movie ‘Ddonggae’, which helped him gain recognition as an actor. He recalled that while he was working part-time jobs to make ends meet, he happened to be hospitalized and ended up sharing meals with a gangster who was in the bed next to him receiving an IV.

Kim Jung-tae said, “He wasn’t an ordinary character. It was a character I wanted to steal. I thought I definitely had to use this in a movie.” He continued, “I couldn’t just meet that one person, so I met others. When I heard their stories, they’d say things like, ‘A sashimi knife came at my armpit, but I caught it right there.’ I had to listen to all their histories regarding action and scars,” leaving everyone shocked.

Furthermore, Kim Jung-tae mentioned that he witnessed a real-life gangster brawl, reminiscent of the karaoke scene in the movie ‘Friend’. He noted, “The details are not suitable for broadcast, but I watched it to research the character even while they were fighting.”
