I.O.I is reuniting after 10 years! With the members’ active participation, another well-made album is on the way, leaving fans buzzing with anticipation.
On May 13, I.O.I shared an audio snippet video on their official SNS channels, giving fans a sneak peek at all the tracks from their third mini album, “I.O.I : LOOP.”
The video captures attention with a projector film frame aesthetic that feels like a collection of memories. The analog visual effects paired with highlights from six tracks signal the birth of a true masterpiece.
Kicking things off, the first track “IOI (Where My Girls At)” radiates the group’s signature vibrant and refreshing energy. Following that, the title track “Suddenly” uses a delicate synth-pop sound to instantly transport listeners back to brilliant memories.
The album showcases a diverse range of genres, proving the members’ expanded musical spectrum.
Listeners will be captivated by “SPF 100+ (Summer Pop Fantasy),” an Afrobeats track with a cool sound and upbeat groove; “IF I,” a rock-based track blending direct band sounds with intense synthesizers; and “Then Us Now,” a ballad featuring warm piano and rich string melodies.
Finally, the archive track “Goodbye with a Smile (Recorded in 2016)” brings back the members’ fresh voices from 2016, pushing the excitement for the new album to its peak.
Released after about 9 years, “I.O.I : LOOP” is an album that solidifies the meaning of their 10th anniversary and musical sincerity, with members Jeon Somi, Chungha, and Yoo Yeonjung participating in the songwriting and composition. Specifically, Jeon Somi worked on the first track and the title song, while Yoo Yeonjung and Chungha contributed to “IF I” and “Then Us Now,” respectively, elevating the album’s overall quality.
I.O.I’s third mini album “I.O.I : LOOP” will be released on May 19 at 6 PM. Additionally, the group will hold a solo concert at the Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul from May 29 to 31, kicking off their Asia tour.
