Entertainer Yang Sang-guk is addressing the controversy surrounding his recent words and attitude that have drawn criticism from viewers.
Yang Sang-guk will appear on the KBS 2TV variety show ‘Problem Child in House’. In a recently released teaser, after Joo Woo-jae mentioned that he is “a hot topic but also quite controversial,” Yang explained, “I’m actually very introverted, but I exaggerated for the sake of screen time.”
He also walked back his previous comments about Gyeongsang-do men not walking women home, jokingly saying, “How can a woman go home alone? I should be the one walking her home,” which brought laughter to the set.
This teaser caused a stir when it was suddenly deleted on the 13th. In response to the curiosity, the ‘Problem Child in House’ team explained that it was uploaded ahead of the scheduled date and was temporarily set to private. The teaser is expected to be re-released after this week’s episode.
Interest in his appearance on ‘Problem Child in House’ is peaking as viewers have been criticizing his recent behavior on various shows.
Previously, in a ‘Pinggyego’ YouTube episode released on the 2nd, while listening to Nam Chang-hee’s honeymoon stories, Yang remarked, “Seoul men are good at these things. In our case (Gyeongsang-do men), we don’t walk them home at all. I think it’s better not to do it unless you’re going to do it for the rest of your life.” When Yoo Jae-suk tried to wrap up the conversation by saying, “We won’t intrude on Sang-guk’s views on dating,” Yang responded, “Yoo Jae-suk, if you say one more thing, I’ll scold you?”
Additionally, on the tvN show ‘Amazing Saturday’ on the 9th, he attempted to create laughs by acting threateningly toward Kim Hae-jun. However, viewers reacted that his behavior was excessive, finding it uncomfortable to see him treat fellow entertainers rudely or try to be funny using an exaggerated ‘Gyeongsang-do man’ concept. Yang has since replied to comments on his social media, stating, “I’m sorry for making you uncomfortable,” “I will work harder,” and “I will be more careful.”
Yang Sang-guk is expected to further clarify these controversies on ‘Problem Child in House’. He is also scheduled to appear on MBC’s ‘Hangout with Yoo’, which has already been recorded. All eyes are on whether he can turn around the public’s cold reaction.
