Jo In-sung is all set to walk the Cannes Film Festival red carpet for “HOPE”!

On the morning of May 14, Jo In-sung departed for France via Incheon International Airport. This comes as his lead role in “HOPE” (directed by Na Hong-jin) was invited to the Competition section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival.

Appearing at the airport, Jo In-sung showed off a comfortable and casual look.

Director Na Hong-jin’s return work, “HOPE,” tells the story of Beom-seok, the head of the Hopo Port office located in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). After hearing news from local youths that a tiger has appeared, the entire village goes on high alert, leading to a series of unbelievable events.

“HOPE” is the only Korean film invited to the Competition section this year. Jo In-sung will walk the red carpet alongside co-stars Hwang Jung-min and Jung Ho-yeon, as well as Hollywood stars Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, and Taylor Russell. This marks Jo In-sung’s first invitation to the Competition section since his debut.

With an estimated production cost of approximately 50 billion won, “HOPE” is the most expensive project in Korean cinema history, drawing huge anticipation from filmmakers worldwide.

The film will make its world premiere on May 17 at 9:30 PM (local time) at the Lumiere Theatre, followed by an official press conference on May 18 to meet reporters from around the globe.

Meanwhile, this year’s Cannes Film Festival runs from May 12 to 23 in the resort city of Cannes, France. Director Park Chan-wook is making history as the first Korean director to serve as the Jury President. While Jeon Do-yeon, Song Kang-ho, and director Hong Sang-soo have previously served as jurors, this is the first time a Korean filmmaker has held the position of Jury President.
