The wait is almost over! The 20th anniversary project, New Movie Gintama: Yoshiwara in Flames, is just around the corner.
To celebrate, a variety of eye-catching events and advertisements are already winning over the hearts of fans.
Starting from the 13th, 6,000 won movie vouchers hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korean Film Council are being distributed. Following last year’s success, these discount vouchers can be used on cinema websites and apps, with two vouchers automatically provided per person per cinema.
With reservations now open, fans who have been eagerly waiting have plenty to be excited about. In particular, the second week’s Wednesday coincides with “Culture Day,” allowing for double discounts, which is expected to spark a massive booking frenzy.
From May 13 to May 26, a mini exhibition featuring visuals from the new movie will be held at Stem Coffee’s Coex branch. Fans can also find special cup holders featuring the beloved character Elizabeth.
These cup holders are designed so that fans can write their own messages on the sign Elizabeth is holding, offering the special joy of owning a personalized piece of merchandise.
The hype is building even further with advertisements appearing at major hotspots frequented by anime fans, including Animate in Hongdae, Samjung Tower in Seomyeon, Busan, and the SMG official goods shop.
The excitement is already peaking, as the nationwide premiere screenings and the Guest Visit (GV) with invited editor Kohei Onishi on May 16 and 17 sold out almost immediately after reservations opened.
New Movie Gintama: Yoshiwara in Flames, which depicts the fiery battle between Gintoki and the Odd Jobs group against the darkness of the Night King Housen in the underground city of Yoshiwara where neither light nor hope is permitted, will be released in Korea on May 20.
