Comedian Kwak Beom shared some hilarious stories about his pre-debut days when he learned the art of comedy from fellow comedian Heo Kyung-hwan.
On the May 14 broadcast of SBS Power FM’s ‘Cultwo Show’, Kwak Beom stepped in as a special DJ.
During the show, Kwak Beom revealed, “To pursue my dream of becoming a comedian, I paid a whopping 2.4 million won to learn comedy from teacher Heo Kyung-hwan at the SBS Academy. Back then, whenever I wrote a sketch, Heo Kyung-hwan would tell me, ‘You brat! This doesn’t stick. There’s no catchphrase!'”
When Kim Tae-gyun asked what he actually learned from Heo Kyung-hwan, Kwak Beom replied, “When I wrote sketches, we were supposed to have a back-and-forth, but I was constantly forced to focus on catchphrase lessons. But thanks to that, I actually passed the comedian exam!”
He added, “That’s why I still call him ‘Teacher.’ But whenever I do, senior Heo Kyung-hwan tells me to be quiet because it’s embarrassing.”
