EVN has opened a new chapter.

In an interview during their photoshoot for the June issue of @Style, EVN spoke candidly about everything from the message behind their new song “Backtalk” to the members’ involvement in the album and the changes they’ve experienced as a 5-member group.

Regarding “Backtalk,” Park Jihoo explained, “It’s a song that captures our ambition to smash through anything blocking EVN’s path and keep moving forward.” The song’s straightforward energy reflects the attitude EVN wants to showcase right now.

This album is particularly meaningful due to the high level of member participation. Park Hanbin revealed, “After becoming five members, the first thing we requested from the company was for them to listen to our opinions more and have more meetings. We shared far more discussions than I expected.” Lee Jeonghyun added, “All members were involved from the beginning to the end of the album work, and we wrote the lyrics for the title track entirely by ourselves. Because of that, I feel like there’s even more I want to say about this album.”

The image EVN wanted to imprint through these promotions was that of “self-completing idols.” Park Hanbin shared, “By increasing the members’ participation, we wanted to create an image of self-producing, self-completing idols.” Park Jihoo added, “Beyond just performing the songs and choreography given to us, we started with the mindset of trying to create what we could on our own.”

Transitioning to a 5-member system has also brought a greater sense of responsibility. Park Hanbin confessed, “As the number of members decreased, a sense of responsibility for each individual emerged.” Lee Jeonghyun noted, “Because of that, the members worked harder, which helped each person’s individual charm shine through more.” Moon Junghyun shared, “We rearranged songs that were originally performed by seven members in Japan into five-member versions for the stage, and I felt proud when fans told us we filled the gap well.”

Their perspective on the team has also shifted. Park Hanbin said, “I now feel more strongly that the team must succeed before the individual. My sense of responsibility became clearer after we became an official group.” Park Jihoo added, “Starting with these promotions, we are all focused on winning over even more people to love EVN.”

EVN’s vision for their future image is clear. Park Hanbin stated, “We want to build an image as a group that is great at performing. We want to be a team that people want to see just for the performance itself, and a team that breathes and enjoys the stage together with the fans.” Keita also expressed his hope, “I want to create a feeling where we aren’t just performing, but enjoying the time together. I want to hear people say, ‘EVN’s performances are really fun’ in the future.”

Finally, Moon Junghyun greeted fans, saying, “Since this is an album where we wrote our own stories, I hope fans can feel through these promotions that ‘EVN can show this side of themselves too.’ Please keep showing interest in our future work.”
