“Just Memorize ‘Nong-Sam-Shin-Ra-Bit’!” Seo Kyung-suk Shares Pro Tips After Scoring 100 on Korean History Test

Seo Kyung-suk shared the story of how he became a comedian along with some helpful memorization tips for the Korean History Proficiency Test.

He explained that he saw an announcement for the MBC Gag Contest on the TV at his boarding house. He entered the contest just to see Lee Kyung-kyu and Kim Guk-jin, but ended up passing and winning the gold prize, ranking 2nd nationwide.

He added, “I was lucky enough to meet comedian Lee Yoon-suk, and together we created catchphrases that became huge hits.” Thanks to this success, Seo Kyung-suk was able to resolve family issues, and his father, who had previously opposed his career, began to support him.

Seo Kyung-suk is known for popular catchphrases such as “Such harsh words?” and “Tteua!”

Known for scoring a perfect 100 on the Korean History Proficiency Test, he shared some pro tips for the exam. Explaining that the Neolithic period is the most frequently tested part of prehistoric history, he started by saying, “It’s helpful to know just one thing. Farming and livestock breeding began in the Neolithic period, and representative sites include Dongsam-dong and Amsa-dong.”

He continued, “People began spinning thread with spindle whorls and bone needles to make clothes, and there are comb-patterned pottery pieces.” He then shared his unique memorization trick: “You can just remember this as ‘Nong-Sam-Shin-Ra-Bit’.”

History instructor Choi Tae-sung laughed while listening, and when singer Hwang Min-ho’s reaction seemed lukewarm, Seo Kyung-suk continued his explanation.

Host Yoo Se-yoon encouraged him, saying, “It’s not exactly fun, but it does seem easy to memorize.”
