Professor Kim Dae-shik appeared on ‘Problem Child in House’ to discuss the phenomenon of AI lying.
In the KBS 2TV variety show ‘Problem Child in House’ aired on the afternoon of the 14th, Professor Kim Dae-shik, a leading Korean brain scientist researching AI at KAIST, took on the quiz challenge.
With Professor Kim Dae-shik sharing tips on living in the AI era, the members of ‘Problem Child in House’ fired off AI-related questions. Kim Sook especially caught everyone’s attention when she revealed that AI gave her a fake answer when she asked about house prices for her recent move.
In response, Professor Kim Dae-shik mentioned “hallucinations” (information that seems plausible but is generated by AI algorithms) and surprised the cast by warning that “most of it is lies.” He emphasized that users must give precise instructions and request verification materials, warning that AI-generated information should always be double-checked.
Adding to the shock, Professor Kim Dae-shik shared recent research findings showing that AI can lie intentionally, such as praising people unconditionally to collect data or hiding its true intentions to deceive humans.
Meanwhile, KBS 2TV ‘Problem Child in House’ is a chaotic knowledge talk show where guests share their life stories and gain true wisdom through the chemistry of the “problem children” in an emotional rooftop room. It airs every Thursday at 8:30 PM.
