Is Yang Sang-guk Throwing Away His Big Break?

Entertainer Yang Sang-guk’s recent attitude is starting to miss the mark when it comes to humor.

On the 2nd, Yang Sang-guk appeared on the YouTube channel ‘Pinggyego’ alongside Han Sang-jin and Nam Chang-hee.

After appearing on popular shows like MBC’s ‘Hangout with Yoo’, ‘Omniscient Interfering View’, and tvN’s ‘You Quiz on the Block’, Yang Sang-guk seemed to be entering a second peak in his career. However, his behavior on ‘Pinggyego’ is not exactly painting a positive picture.

During the episode, Yang shared a dating philosophy that left many confused. He stated, “In my view, it’s actually dangerous. Men in Seoul are good at walking their partners home on dates, but I don’t do it at all. If you do it every day and then stop one day because you’re tired, the other person will think the love has ended. I’ve never walked a girlfriend home.”

When Yoo Jae-suk shared his thoughts on this, Yang responded by asking, “Didn’t we agree not to intrude?” to which Yoo replied, “We won’t intrude on your dating views.” Yang then shot back, “If you say it one more time, I’ll scold you?” While this could be seen as an attempt to be funny by challenging Yoo Jae-suk, it was criticized because it happened more than once. Notably, Yoo Jae-suk is from the 7th KBS open recruitment class, while Yang Sang-guk is from the 22nd.

Despite a 15-year gap in seniority, Yang alternated between calling him “Sunbaenim” and “Yoo Jae-suk-ssi.” While ‘Pinggyego’ aims for free-flowing conversation where guests use casual terms like “hyung” or “dongsaeng,” Yang’s occasional use of “Yoo Jae-suk-ssi” didn’t sit well with viewers.

Additionally, Yang randomly asked Yoo Jae-suk, “By the way, do you do recycling?” When Yoo answered that he does, Yang remarked, “No, somehow… when the public looks at Yoo Jae-suk, they’d think he doesn’t…” before quickly trying to backtrack, saying, “I didn’t mean he doesn’t.” This left many wondering about his true intentions behind the question.
