Kim Jong Kook is gearing up for an even bigger survival challenge in ‘Survival King 2’!
Premiering on the 20th, TV Chosun’s ‘Survival King 2’ is a global survival competition where elite survivors from four countries—Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Malaysia—battle it out for national pride. This season aims to find the ‘Asia’s Strongest Survival King,’ with ‘the icon of Korean physical variety’ Kim Jong Kook joining as the new MC. Meanwhile, the original survival king, Kim Byung Man, returns as the leader of ‘Team Korea’ to reclaim the throne.
Sharing his excitement about joining the show, Kim Jong Kook said, “Since the first season was so successful and buzzy, I was very thrilled and happy to join when I received the offer.” Regarding his role as MC, he expressed his ambition, saying, “Since it’s a national competition, I want to ensure the hosting is balanced overall, and if I get the chance, I’d love to be of help during the missions.” He also teased the viewers, adding, “The unexpected twists from members with diverse skills and personalities representing each country will provide great joy in every moment.”
Kim Byung Man, the ‘God of the Jungle’ with 16 years of experience, couldn’t hide his excitement: “I’ve always missed the jungle. I love humid and hot tropical climates so much that I currently live in nature on Jeju Island, so joining this show felt like returning home.” As the first-ever winner, his determination is on another level. “My biggest goal is not to get carried away. I’ll keep a happy expression, but I must always be serious about survival,” he stated. When asked why fans must watch this season, he joked, “You have to watch so the ratings go up!” but followed up with confidence, saying, “We’ll show you deeper survival stories, teamwork, and upgraded survival fun that is much more mature and experienced than Season 1.”
With the combination of ‘Charismatic MC’ Kim Jong Kook’s smooth hosting and the legendary survival skills of Kim Byung Man, ‘Survival King 2’ is already building massive anticipation among viewers.
