Ryu Jun-yeol as a Buyer and Han So-hee as an Ambassador: Different Roles at the Cannes Film Festival!

With the 79th Cannes Film Festival kicking off, fans are keeping a close eye on actors visiting the event for reasons other than having a film invited.

Ryu Jun-yeol attended the festival as a buyer rather than an actor. This detail came to light through a Japanese film industry professional.

On the 13th, Natsumi Kokawa, CEO of the Japanese film distribution company ‘Elas Films’, shared a story on social media about meeting Ryu Jun-yeol. She mentioned, “I happened to run into Ryu Jun-yeol at the Cannes Film Festival. It seemed like he was there as a buyer.”

CEO Natsumi Kokawa added, “When I told him I had distributed a Korean film, he asked which one it was. I thought it might be a bit awkward to mention it starred Han So-hee, but I answered ‘Heavy Snow’. He burst out laughing and said, ‘Of course I know the Han So-hee movie. It’s really fun!'”

Ryu Jun-yeol and Han So-hee briefly dated in 2024. Their relationship was revealed after sightings of them traveling in Hawaii, but they announced their breakup after 14 days following allegations of “transfer dating.”

Han So-hee is also visiting the Cannes Film Festival, though not for a film invitation. She is attending the ‘2026 Women in Motion Award’ as a global ambassador for a jewelry brand. Han So-hee attended the same event last year as well.

The two actors, who once dated publicly, now find themselves in Cannes at the same time. Ryu Jun-yeol will be carrying out his schedule as a film buyer, while Han So-hee will be there as an ambassador.
