Actor Jang Dong-ju has sent shockwaves through the industry after suddenly announcing his retirement, with his agency revealing they were completely unaware of the decision.
According to a report by Star News on the 15th, it appears that Jang Dong-ju announced his retirement without any prior consultation with his agency.
His agency is currently attempting to reach the actor to verify the truth and the background of the announcement, but he is reportedly unreachable. Management W stated, “We haven’t been able to get in touch with actor Jang Dong-ju yet. We need to confirm the reason for his retirement,” adding that there had been no particular issues until recently, which only adds to the mystery. Another official remained tight-lipped, saying, “We don’t know why he posted such a message. It is a delicate situation at the moment.”
Earlier this morning, Jang Dong-ju suddenly declared his retirement via his personal account. He wrote, “As of today, I intend to lay down my life as actor Jang Dong-ju,” and added, “Although I am leaving the stage, I will never forget the love you have shown me for the rest of my life.” He also reflected, “Every moment I laughed and cried in front of the camera was the brightest time of my life.” He concluded his message by thanking fans, saying, “Thank you sincerely for loving actor Jang Dong-ju until now.” Currently, all posts on his account have been deleted except for this announcement.
This isn’t the first time Jang Dong-ju has made such sudden moves. Last November, he caused a stir after suddenly disappearing. He later joined a new agency, but shortly after, he announced the termination of that contract, showing an unstable pattern. In January, he shared the heartbreaking news that his family had to sell their home due to hacking damages.
Although he signed an exclusive contract with Management W in February to make a fresh start, concerns are growing as he has once again disappeared following today’s announcement.
