On the 10th, “Babo Meeting presents Tokyo Owarai Live in KOREA Vol.3 by Meta Comedy” was held at Sogang University’s Merry Hall in Seoul. It was a special performance where comedians from Korea and Japan shared the stage to showcase their unique comedy styles.
The show featured a fantastic lineup, including Korea’s Youth Desk, Hegeukin-z, Ttuk-sa-dae W, Cow Club, and Mon-nomz, as well as Japan’s Heisei Nobushikobushi Yoshimura (MC), Blue Lady Tanaka Ryo (MC), 5GAP, Trendy Angel, Picnic, Slim Club, and LLR.
The performance was packed with variety, starting with audience participation segments and moving into dubbing gags, Korean language acting, and stages utilizing beam projections. The Japanese cast members especially connected with the audience by challenging themselves to act in Korean throughout every segment.
This event marks the third stage of the Korea-Japan comedy exchange project created by Meta Comedy and Yoshimoto Kogyo, proving the potential for the expansion of comedy culture in both countries. The high level of interest from domestic fans was evident, as every show continued to sell out.
Yoshimura, representing Yoshimoto Kogyo, spoke about the collaboration with Meta Comedy, saying, “I can feel the sophistication of the material and the rapid growth of the newcomers with every performance.” He added, “I believe Korean comedy will definitely work in Japan. Their ability to research, internalize, and express Japanese material is overwhelmingly fast.”
