Kim Jaejoong Opens Up About Freezing His Sperm to Ensure Healthy Future Children!

Singer and actor Kim Jaejoong revealed that he previously froze his sperm.

In the May 15 episode of KBS 2TV’s ‘Stars’ Top Recipey’, Chef Kim Jaejoong treated his close colleagues Choi Jinhyuk, Yoon Shi-yoon, and Yoo Sun-ho to special health-boosting meals.

Kim Jaejoong invited the three to his parents’ home and served them dishes like Jjamppong Samgyetang and chili pepper stir-fry.

Being single men in their 40s, Kim Jaejoong, Yoon Shi-yoon, and Choi Jinhyuk chatted about marriage.

The three agreed that while their mothers tell them to get married, they secretly feel their mothers might not actually want them to.

Kim Jaejoong surprised everyone by stating, “I have a strong desire to marry, so I’ve even frozen my sperm before.”

He explained that he did it to ensure he could have healthy children after marriage, adding, “Shouldn’t men preserve their genes while they’re young to have a healthy child?”

Choi Jinhyuk nodded in agreement, saying, “I think that was a really great move.”

Kim Jaejoong shared the details of the process, saying, “You have to go to the hospital for testing. During the first consultation for the sperm freezing test, the doctor told me, ‘First, please take off your pants.’ They check if there are any external abnormalities first.”

He continued, “The real issue happens when you enter the room for the exam. If I leave the sperm collection room too quickly or too slowly, it becomes a problem. You have to hit the golden time.”

He laughed and added, “They call out ‘Mr. Kim Jaejoong’ loudly from outside. I went secretly wearing a mask, but when they call your name loudly, people stare. It’s embarrassing whether you come out too fast or too slow.”

Choi Jinhyuk admitted, “I’ve said I should freeze my sperm too, but honestly, I can’t bring myself to go. I don’t have the courage.”

Kim Jaejoong noted, “That was just the test. You have to endure that embarrassment twice, once for the test and then again. Still, I recommend it.”

He added, “However, frozen sperm is discarded after 3 to 5 years. They stay healthy for 3 years and are discarded by 5. Mine have been discarded now, and I don’t plan on freezing them again for the time being.”
