The Korean film ‘Gunche’ (directed by Yeon Sang-ho), which was officially invited to the Midnight Screening section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival, had its world premiere on the 15th at 12:30 AM (local time). All eyes were on Jun Ji-hyun, who is returning to the big screen after 11 years through ‘Gunche’, as she graced the red carpet alongside her colleagues.
After surprising everyone with an unexpectedly casual pantsuit at the photocall, Jun Ji-hyun went all out for the red carpet. Dressed in a pure white gown that made her stand out even from 100 meters away, she instantly captivated the entire crowd.

This marks the first time since her debut that Jun Ji-hyun has walked the Cannes red carpet as a lead actress in a film. While she has visited Cannes twice before as a brand ambassador, appearing for a film is a completely different experience. There is high anticipation regarding how this Cannes-invited project will be received.
‘Gunche’ is a story about survivors trapped in a building during a mysterious infection outbreak, fighting against infected individuals who evolve in unpredictable ways. Following its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, the movie will be released in Korean theaters on the 21st.
