The 4 masters and 16 muses of “The Scout” have finally come together as one team.
In the second episode of ENA’s growth-oriented music project “THE SCOUT: Reborn Star” (hereafter “The Scout”) aired on May 15, the 16 muses who survived the “Scout Stage” were divided into teams led by Lee Seung-chul, Kim Jae-joong, Wendy, and DAY6’s Young K to begin their “Muse Lessons.” In the process, the masters engaged in a fierce “team matching war” to recruit the hidden gems for their own teams, causing tension to explode.
The broadcast continued to reveal the “Scout Stage” performances from last week. First, Jo Yoon-chan, a former rock band member who had high expectations from Kim Jae-joong, performed WOODZ’s “Cinema,” dominating the scene with explosive energy and the charisma typical of a bandman. Young K praised him, saying, “This guy knows how to get lost in his own music and stage,” while Kim Jae-joong expressed his affection, noting, “If you close your eyes and just listen, he sounds like someone who has been making music for 30 years. His spirit is amazing.” Next, Lee Je-bin, boasting “webtoon male lead” visuals, captured the masters’ attention with his stable vocals. Lee Seung-chul actively appealed to him, saying, “He’s the complete opposite style of singer Lee Seung-chul. If he joins my team, I can break him down and reshape him.” Yang Tae-sun, formerly of TRCNG, sang Park Won’s “Down,” but Young K offered realistic advice, telling him, “You need to choose a song that you are good at.”
Kim Jae-joong advised Jin Hyun-jun, who gained attention for his “100 cover shorts,” saying, “You use your voice well, but it would be great if you could create your own unique color.” Kim Yeon-gyu, formerly of ATBO, showed off his natural charm with RIIZE’s “Get A Guitar,” but Kim Jae-joong expressed regret, stating, “The star quality is a bit lacking.” Then, Park Min-seok surprised everyone by successfully losing 15kg. Lee Seung-chul smiled warmly, saying, “You kept your promise. If you lose another 5kg, it would be art.” Park Min-seok passed with his own groove on Crush’s “Nappa.” Cha Sol-bin delivered a clean performance of “Every Moment of You,” and musical actor Choi Ha-ram presented a unique stage performing a song by Kim Yeon-woo accompanied by the piano. However, Kim Jae-joong sharply pointed out, “I don’t think this was your original vocalization,” leading Choi Ha-ram to sing again using musical theater vocals. Despite this, Lee Seung-chul gave a cold evaluation, saying, “You have to put power into it for the song to come out,” which ultimately left Choi Ha-ram in tears.
Kim Yoon-su shifted the mood. He performed Lee Sora’s “To You Who Doesn’t Love Me,” unleashing deep emotions. Kim Jae-joong praised him highly, saying, “It’s really hard for a man to sing like Lee Sora sunbaenim, but this is so good.” Young K also noted, “I feel immense potential in his vocals,” and Lee Seung-chul predicted the birth of an “audio genius,” saying, “Women will love this touch.” On the other hand, Kim Yu-shin, who ranked first in the pre-votes, chose Jung Joon-il’s “Hug Me” but failed to leave as much of an impact as expected. Lee Seung-chul expressed frustration, asking, “You were so good at Roy Kim’s songs, so why this song specifically?” Young K also lamented, “Why do you lack confidence like this?” Finally, Lee Jae-hyuk took on a powerful challenge with Ha Hyun-woo’s “Rock,” but left a lingering regret as his voice wavered during the high notes.
After all the performances, the 17 challengers gathered, and Lee Seung-chul heightened the tension by announcing, “One person will be eliminated here.” Then, the “team matching” began, where masters formed teams with four challengers each. First, Young K chose Lee Jin, and Wendy took Lee San. Kim Jae-joong “picked” Kwon Ui-bin, and Lee Seung-chul sought to recruit Park Jun-sung, highly valuing his star quality. However, other masters also joined the competition, and Park Jun-sung, who held the right to choose, ultimately picked Lee Seung-chul. This made Lee Seung-chul beam with a wide smile, saying, “I’ll take good care of you,” turning the scene into a sea of laughter. Later, Young K chose Lee Je-bin, but Lee Je-bin provided a twist by choosing Kim Jae-joong instead.
Wendy chose Jo Yong-hwan and Lee Seung-chul chose Jo Yoon-chan, but Kim Jae-joong succeeded in taking Jo Yoon-chan, continuing the fierce psychological warfare. Young K recruited Kim Yu-shin and Jin Hyun-jun, Wendy recruited Park Min-seok and Cha Sol-bin, and Kim Jae-joong completed his team by choosing Kim Yoon-su. In the final moment of selection, Young K drew attention by choosing Choi Ha-ram, saying, “I want to believe in you once more.” Ultimately, Lee Jae-hyuk was decided as the eliminated contestant, while Yang Tae-sun, Kim Dong-won, and Kim Yeon-gyu automatically joined Lee Seung-chul’s team. After the teams were formed, the training process for the 16 muses was revealed. The muses began a mission themed “Remake My Self,” where they reinterpret existing songs in their own style, promising further growth.
Meanwhile, in the “1st Main Vote” results revealed at the end of the broadcast, Lee San drew attention by ranking first, backed by global popularity in regions like South America.
