Comedian Kim Sook had a surprising encounter with a local clerk during her trip to Japan.
On May 11, a video titled “Full-scale Nagoya Food Tour, I can give up sightseeing but not gourmet restaurants” was uploaded to the ‘Kim Sook TV’ channel. In the video, Kim Sook visited Nagoya, Japan, to indulge in a gourmet adventure.

Starting her tour in Gero Onsen village, Kim Sook visited a sushi restaurant. She treated fans to a “street mukbang” with her takeout sushi, repeatedly praising the perfect seasoning. Since sushi didn’t feel like a full meal, she headed to a ramen spot. She tried ramen topped with the local specialty, Hida beef, instead of the usual chashu. After one bite, she exclaimed, “This is incredible! Japanese food is usually a bit salty, but this broth is clean and has a deep flavor.”

Still craving more, Kim Sook continued her food exploration. While eating dango, she showed off her foodie side, noting, “It doesn’t feel like a rice cake. It’s like cheese.”
The following day, just before heading back to Korea, Kim Sook visited a teppanyaki restaurant. She caused a laugh by ordering almost every available topping, including butter, bean sprouts, corn, bok choy, tomatoes, and mushrooms. “It’s too much. You try adding some,” she told her companion, noting the bill had already reached about 40,000 won. As her companion added shrimp, bacon, cheese, and scallops, the local clerk urgently stopped them, shouting, “Wait!”

As it turns out, the basic ingredients were already included in the dish. The clerk recommended a combination of pollock roe, rice cake, and cheese, which Kim Sook and her companion then ordered. Feeling a bit embarrassed, Kim Sook wondered, “Why didn’t they ask if we needed to order this much?” She warned viewers, “Don’t just throw everything in like we did. They said it comes as basic.” When the food finally arrived, she joked, “There’s no rice. Koreans need to eat rice,” and added a rice topping, bringing more laughter.
