Actress Kim Young-ok shared her heartfelt emotions while watching an idol group around the same age as her grandson.
In a video titled “Rap Teacher Joohoney and Halminem Grandma Young-ok’s Fire-attribute Grandson-Grandma Chemistry” uploaded to MONSTA X Joohoney’s YouTube channel ‘Lee Jooheon’ on the 16th, Kim Young-ok spoke about attending a MONSTA X performance. She expressed her admiration, saying, “It was wondrous. I know how hard the members have worked.” She added, “When they were rookies, I felt sorry and pity for them, but beyond that, I was deeply moved. I unexpectedly felt tears welling up,” showing her pride in her junior colleagues who have now established themselves as a top group.
Kim Young-ok first bonded with idols after appearing alongside Joohoney on JTBC’s ‘Hip Hop Nation’ back in 2016. The two have maintained their special bond for 10 years since the show ended. In the video, Joohoney invited Kim Young-ok and personally treated her to a lavish meal paired with wine.
During the video, Kim Young-ok became emotional as the members of MONSTA X reminded her of her own grandson. While watching the concert, she confessed, “I thought of my grandson who cannot run. That’s how I felt.”

In a 2024 broadcast, Kim Young-ok revealed that she has been caring for her grandson, who is paralyzed from the waist down, for eight years. Her grandson was reportedly hit by an unlicensed drunk driver in 2015, resulting in paraplegia. She shared that she stepped in to help after her daughter, the grandson’s mother, became exhausted from the long-term caregiving process.
