The wedding of Choi Jun-hee was filled with emotion as the close friends of the late Choi Jin-sil gathered to fill the void left by her absence.

Choi Jun-hee, an influencer and daughter of Choi Jin-sil, tied the knot with her non-celebrity partner, who is 11 years her senior, on May 16 at a hotel in Gangnam, Seoul. The ceremony was hosted by Jo Se-ho and featured congratulatory songs by Sohyang and Tei. In a touching moment, her older brother Choi Hwan-hee walked her down the aisle in place of their parents.

What caught everyone’s attention were the old friends who stepped in for the mother. Many of Choi Jin-sil’s closest friends, including Hong Jin-kyung, Jung Sun-hee, Uhm Jung-hwa, and Lee So-ra, attended the event. Their presence marked the fulfillment of a promise Choi Jin-sil made in a first-birthday video from 22 years ago, which Choi Jun-hee shared before the wedding.

In the video posted on May 11, Choi Jin-sil said, “I hope you continue to show love and interest so that Sumin (Choi Jun-hee’s name before changing it) can grow up healthy and into a beautiful lady.” She added, “I will remember everyone who came today and invite you all again when Sumin gets married. Please stay healthy until then.”

As time passed, those who were there then returned as guests for her daughter’s wedding, just as promised. Choi Jun-hee shared her complex emotions, stating, “The saddest part was the fact that only my mom and dad weren’t there,” and “As I prepared for the wedding, various emotions kept resurfacing.”

Although 18 years have passed since Choi Jin-sil left this world, the loyalty of the “aunts” toward the children remained unchanged. Specifically, Hong Jin-kyung shared her sincerity on the MBC variety show ‘Sora and Jin-kyung’ last April, saying, “I didn’t meet the children that often. I couldn’t take care of them much, but from the beginning, I had the thought that I should be consistent. I wanted to be steadily by their side so they could always come to me whenever something happened.”

Lee So-ra also highlighted the significance of the event, saying, “Today is a happy day,” after attending the wedding.

Meanwhile, the late Choi Jin-sil passed away on October 2, 2008, at the age of 40.
