“If you mess up the World Cup, hand in your resignation!”

Jun Hyun-moo answered the call from Lee Kyung-kyu on ‘Boss in the Mirror’.
In today’s (17th) episode of KBS 2TV ‘Boss in the Mirror’ (directed by Choi Seung-hee), Lee Kyung-kyu, the 65-year-old “godfather of variety” who has brought the heat from every World Cup since 2002, shares his top-tier soccer broadcasting know-how with Nam Hyun-jong, the 32-year-old youngest main caster selected for the ‘2026 North and Central America World Cup’.
Lee Kyung-kyu kicks off an intense training session with a chilling command: “If you mess up the World Cup, hand in your resignation and leave!” After a moment of panic, Nam Hyun-jong firms up his resolve, stating, “I will approach this with the mindset that this is my first and last chance.” Lee Kyung-kyu encourages him, saying, “This is your chance. If you do well, you’ll be on an upward curve,” before surprising him with the core secret: “You have to catch the wind well.” He emphasizes that during the most tense moments, such as right before a goal, a caster must breathe with the crowd and know how to manipulate the tension through their commentary. Drawing from decades of experience, Lee Kyung-kyu pours out realistic advice, telling him, “You need to put more emotion into it” and “You can’t beat someone who truly loves soccer.” Nam Hyun-jong nods deeply, seemingly having a great realization.
Lee Kyung-kyu then mentions, “There is someone who can be of help to Hyun-jong,” and calls in Jun Hyun-moo. Showing his support as a veteran senior, Lee Kyung-kyu tells Jun Hyun-moo, “Hyun-moo, come and help with this broadcast. Support your junior, Hyun-jong.”
