TWICE’s Jeongyeon shed tears while expressing her deep gratitude to her sister, Gong Seung-yeon, for staying by her side during her most difficult moments.
On the 17th, tvN’s ‘You Quiz on the Block’ released a preview titled, “Gong Seung-yeon, who was always a pillar of support during Jeongyeon’s hardest times! Thank you for being my sister. The tears of sisters Seung-yeon X Jeongyeon.”
During the episode, Jeongyeon recalled, “I relied on my sister a lot back then. It was a period when I was struggling mentally.”
Back in 2020, while receiving treatment for a cervical disc, Jeongyeon suffered from Cushing’s Syndrome after taking steroids, which led to rapid weight changes and a decline in her health. This was followed by panic symptoms, forcing her to take several hiatuses, but she eventually returned to the stage after consistent treatment and recovery.
Jeongyeon remembered, “My sister held onto me and said, ‘Your body seems a bit strange. I think you should go to the hospital.’ Thanks to that, I received an accurate diagnosis. ‘Cushing’ was a word I had never heard before.” She continued through tears, “I’m so grateful that I recovered my health and the treatment went well thanks to her. I’m so happy that my sister is so hot and doing so well. Thank you for being my biological sister. I’m sorry.”
Gong Seung-yeon also moved to tears while listening to her sister. She shared, “At the time, Jeongyeon was struggling so much that I felt anxious leaving her alone. Even when she was living in the dorm, I visited her constantly and had her stay at our house. I wanted to look after her personally, so I told her, ‘Let’s live together.'”
She added, “I’m truly thankful she overcame it. Hearing people say she’s ‘become so pretty’ and ‘found her visual peak again’ makes me feel wonderful. My sister is someone who does everything properly and well, so I have absolute faith in her,” showing a heartwarming bond between the sisters.
