In the May 17 episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show ‘The Boss’s Ears are Donkey’s Ears’, announcer Nam Hyun-jong was shown gearing up for the upcoming World Cup.
Senior announcer Lee Jae-hoo praised Nam’s stability, noting that he seems to handle everything requested. However, he also gave a cold reality check, advising him to engage more with his partner’s comments, warning, “If you only use prepared scripts, you become a parrot. It’s boring.”
Announcer Eom Ji-in also pointed out a lack of recognition and variety sense, questioning what makes Nam Hyun-jong’s broadcasting a must-watch compared to Bae Sung-jae.
To help her junior, Eom Ji-in brought in Lee Kyung-kyu as a “relief pitcher.” When Eom expressed concerns about Nam’s lack of fame and humor, Lee Kyung-kyu responded with his signature blunt yet comforting style.
Lee Kyung-kyu boosted Nam’s confidence, stating, “A lack of recognition is actually a chance. It means you aren’t cliché to the viewers.” He then left everyone laughing with a sharp joke: “If you do well, you move up, and if you don’t, you can just hand in your resignation and leave.”
