Management W, the agency for actor Jang Dong-ju, has taken a strong stance regarding his sudden retirement announcement, calling it a “unilateral decision made without any prior discussion.”
On the 17th, Management W released an official statement saying, “The retirement announcement of actor Jang Dong-ju, which recently became known through the media and SNS, was a matter decided by the actor’s own unilateral judgment without any prior discussion or consultation with the company.”
They further explained, “The company was not informed of this in advance and only became aware of the situation after the announcement.”
The agency strongly pointed out that this was “very irresponsible behavior that betrays the responsibility and trust expected of an actor under contract.”
They emphasized, “We make it clear that the responsibility for the resulting confusion and damage lies entirely with the actor himself.”
Additionally, they added, “The company is doing its best to resolve the situation with the officials and partner companies who suffered damage due to the actor’s unilateral decision,” and stated they are “responding to this matter with a grave perspective.”
The agency also hinted at a potential split, stating, “We believe that the relationship of trust with actor Jang Dong-ju has reached a level that is practically irreparable,” and “We plan to carefully review all matters, including whether to maintain the exclusive contract.”
Previously, Jang Dong-ju shocked fans by suddenly declaring his retirement from the entertainment industry via his personal SNS. However, with the agency now stating there was “no prior discussion,” the conflict between the two parties has come to light.
