Yu Min-sang jumped on the MZ trend in Cheongju! He successfully took on the “Mal-meok” cake challenge. In the May 17 episode of Comedy TV’s ‘Am I a Face That Eats a Lot?’, Kim Min-kyung explored gourmet spots in Jeonju, Namwon, and Jeju, while Yu Min-sang hit up the best eats in Cheongju. Kim Min-kyung’s first stop was a 20-year-old rice bread bakery in Jeonju. Impressed by the master’s dedication to using rice flour instead of wheat for better digestion, she fell in love with the savory, not-too-sweet rice cream roll cake.
Enjoying the combo of roll cake and milk, she exclaimed, “It’s a taste that keeps you coming back!” She continued her healthy bread tour with red bean bread and chestnut bread. Meanwhile, Yu Min-sang found a hearty home-cooked meal in Cheongju. With a lineup of “rice thieves” like Cheonggukjang and Golden Crab soy-marinated crab, Yu Min-sang showed off his perfect wrap and shouted, “Finally, the one-bite pick is complete!” before diving in. He cleared the entire meal, praising the perfect seasoning. Next, Kim Min-kyung visited a historic Chinese restaurant in Namwon with 100 years of history across four generations. After being momentarily overwhelmed by the atmosphere, she was captivated by the mysterious taste of “Mul-jjajang.”
“It’s so amazing how it tastes like jjajang without any chunjang,” she praised the unfamiliar yet addictive flavor. After tasting the springy Kkanpung shrimp, she picked Mul-jjajang as her final “one-bite pick,” acknowledging the 100-year legacy. Back in Cheongju, Yu Min-sang showed a surprising side at a trendy cake shop. While admiring the nostalgic taste of a chocolate cake from a 24-hour unmanned store, he tried the MZ trend of “Mal-meok” (soaking cake in milk). Though he initially grumbled, “It’s hard to keep up with the kids,” he soon discovered its charm, saying, “Oh, this is actually delicious!” which sparked laughter. For the final leg of the journey, Kim Min-kyung headed to Jeju Island. She visited a restaurant run by a Vietnamese owner and was captivated by the clean pho broth simmered for 12 hours. Even someone who usually loves strong sauces like her admitted, “The broth is so clean that I want to try it without any sauce first.”
Kim Min-kyung wrapped up her Jeju trip by enjoying Banh Xeo and sugarcane juice, “Nuoc Mia.” From deep, traditional flavors to the latest mukbang trends, the two added richness to the weekend morning with their sincere love for food. Meanwhile, Comedy TV’s ‘Am I a Face That Eats a Lot?’ airs every Sunday at 10 AM.
