Actress Hwang Bo-ra opened up about the hardships of parenting, confessing that “parenting doesn’t really suit my personality.”
On May 19, a video titled “Hwang Bo-ra attending her first mom’s meeting with only 3 hours until her son’s daycare pickup” was posted on her YouTube channel, ‘Hwang Bo-ra Boraiety’.
In the video, Hwang Bo-ra expressed that “the act of sending him to daycare itself was so difficult.”
She explained that her son, Woo-in, has a very strong temperament. She added, “I went to the hospital, and they told me that parenting just doesn’t match my personality.” Hwang Bo-ra shared her struggle, saying, “I consistently watched over the baby, read books calmly, and waited, but it just didn’t fit my personality. I think I’d rather be working,” revealing her tendency to struggle with parenting.
Currently sharing her parenting journey on her channel, Hwang Bo-ra recently reacted to her son’s tantrums, saying, “It’s so hard. I can’t stand it. He’s completely unhandleable and uncontrollable. Honestly, I wanted to cry. I’m driven crazy by frustration.” This eventually led her to decide on child counseling.

Hwang Bo-ra also talked about how her daily life has completely changed since giving birth. She recalled, “When I was younger, I only had time for myself and would think, ‘Who should I meet today to have fun?’ but now, there’s no such thing as ‘Burning Friday’.” She added, “The baby’s bedtime becomes our bedtime, and we wake up early.”
Additionally, Hwang Bo-ra honestly shared her concerns regarding media exposure. When another mother mentioned, “I’ve never shown media on a phone at a restaurant,” Hwang Bo-ra asked in surprise, “Then does he just sit still and eat?” When the mother added that she never shows it in the car either, Hwang Bo-ra admitted, “I show him everything.”
To this, the other mothers remarked, “Parenting is different for everyone. I don’t think there’s a right answer,” and Hwang Bo-ra nodded in agreement.
