On the 28th of last month, an interview was held at the Ilgan Sports office in KG Tower, Jung-gu, Seoul, with Jung Yi-chan, the lead actor of the TV Chosun weekend mini-series ‘Doctor Shin’.
During the interview, Jung Yi-chan spoke about the viewers’ reactions to ‘Doctor Shin’, saying, “I saw comments like ‘falling for Shin’ and ‘falling for Ju,’ and I’m so grateful. Even the senior actors playing nurses told me, ‘You look enough like Ju Shin, and if you keep acting, people will definitely recognize and love you,’ which means a lot to me.”

He also revealed his connection with Moon Sang-min, sharing, “We contacted each other recently, but we were closest back in high school. We were close during our second and third years of high school while preparing for college entrance exams and visiting Daehak-ro to watch plays. After college, military service, and the pandemic, we couldn’t stay in touch often, but we’ve recently started talking again.”
After majoring in Theater and Film at Chung-Ang University and officially debuting as an actor in 2023, ‘Doctor Shin’ marks Jung Yi-chan’s first lead role in three years. When asked if he’s worried about being pigeonholed after such a strong debut in a work by writer Im Sung-han, he confidently replied, “That’s my responsibility as an actor. I believe if I express other characters with sincerity and depth, I can come across differently.”
He named Lee Byung-hun as his role model. Jung Yi-chan expressed his ambition, saying, “I truly respect him because it feels like I can hear the lines even in scenes where he doesn’t say a word. I want to become an actor like that, someone with ‘good eyes’ who knows how to speak through them.”
Meanwhile, the TV Chosun weekend mini-series ‘Doctor Shin’, which ended on the 3rd, is a medical thriller about a genius doctor challenging the realm of God and a woman who loses her soul after her brain is damaged overnight.
