Comedian Lee Kyung-shil’s heartwarming story of stepping up for Jung Sun-hee during her darkest days after bereavement is once again drawing attention.
During an episode of MBN’s ‘Body Insight’ aired on the 18th, Lee Kyung-shil looked back on the time she and other colleagues reached out to help Jung Sun-hee during a severe financial crisis.
Recalling the moment, Lee said, “Sun-hee isn’t the type of person who wouldn’t pay it back. Those of us who understood the situation decided to help her resolve it first and save her.”
It was previously known that Jung Sun-hee faced extreme financial hardship and massive debts following the passing of her husband, Ahn Jae-hwan. With her home even facing the risk of being auctioned off, Lee Kyung-shil personally contacted fellow entertainers, managing to raise 350 million won in just one day.
Jung Sun-hee had also expressed her gratitude on her YouTube channel in the past, saying, “Unnie contacted my colleagues so quickly and gathered the money that very day.”
Lee shared on the show, “If that money hadn’t been sorted out, Sun-hee’s life would have become truly difficult,” adding, “I didn’t believe it was Sun-hee’s fault.”
Jung Sun-hee opened up about her struggle, saying, “I held on with the determination that I absolutely had to pay that money back. Even when I felt like I wanted to die, I told myself I should pay off the debt first.”
