NCT’s Taeyong revealed some intense and memorable episodes from his time serving in the Navy.
On May 22, a video titled “Want to compete with me? HMH (If I do it, I do it) GMG (If I go, I go)” was uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Zip Daesung’. Taeyong appeared on the show to chat with MC Daesung about his military life.
During the episode, Taeyong shared, “I served in the Navy in a land-based position,” adding, “I was part of a promotion team that visited units on islands to give consolation performances.”
Taeyong specifically mentioned performing on islands by boat. He said, “Looking at the records of my business trips by boat, there were about 50 of them,” and added, “It was a great experience. I felt that there are many beautiful islands in Korea.”
He named ‘Baengnyeongdo’ as the most memorable island. Taeyong mentioned, “I went to Baengnyeongdo on a small boat,” prompting Daesung to ask if he got seasick. Taeyong then vividly described the hardships of the trip.
Taeyong caused laughter by saying, “The Marine Corps members and residents working on Baengnyeongdo all go lying down because it’s so far.” He described the ride, saying, “The boat kept bouncing up and down like skipping stones on water,” and noted, “It took four hours, so it really left a strong impression.”
He also revealed his experience as a barber during his service. Taeyong admitted, “I was inexperienced since it was my first time,” and shared, “I cut a junior’s hair, and the other guys told me the left and right sides looked different.”
He even had the experience of personally moving a First Sergeant’s container. Taeyong asked, “Do you know the First Sergeant’s ‘moving castle’?” and explained, “I once moved the container where the First Sergeant lived.”
Surprised, Daesung asked, “A person moved that themselves? Aren’t you exaggerating?” To which Taeyong gave a realistic reason, saying, “It’s hard work, but they give you merit points,” sparking laughter once again.
