More Than Just Shin Ha-kyun and Oh Jung-se! Lee Hak-joo Steals the Spotlight in 'Fifty Percent' Premiere

Actor Lee Hak-joo has successfully transformed his acting style once again!

The new MBC Friday-Saturday drama ‘Fifty Percent’, starring Shin Ha-kyun and Oh Jung-se, premiered on May 22. It is an action-comedy about three men who were once famous but have since faced the hardships of time and find themselves back in the same boat. The series is helmed by Director Han Dong-hwa, who previously directed ‘Criminal Record’, ‘Navillera’, ‘Miss Lee’, ‘Bad Guys: Vile City’, and ’38 Task Force’.

Lee Hak-joo plays the role of Ma Gong-bok, capturing viewers’ attention with a side of himself never seen before. Ma Gong-bok first appeared in a flashback, infiltrating a passenger ship alongside the second-in-command of the Hwasan Clan, Kang Beom-ryong (played by Heo Sung-tae), creating tension with a determined look, a low-pulled hat, and a mask.

Fast forward 10 years, and he appears as Ma Gong-bok, a part-time worker at a convenience store on Yeongseondo. With naturally messy hair and a neat convenience store vest, he brought a realistic touch to the character that caught everyone’s eye.

In particular, his fiery chemistry and banter with customers and the convenience store owner, Kang Beom-ryong (the former Hwasan Clan second-in-command), added energy to the show and established a strong presence.

Furthermore, Ma Gong-bok showed an obsessive side by meticulously recording information about former NIS agent Jung Ho-myung (played by Shin Ha-kyun). His sharp observation skills and ability to notice even the smallest changes have raised expectations for his future role.

Lee Hak-joo, who has always handled every character in his own unique style, has expanded his acting spectrum once again through a grounded, realistic performance in ‘Fifty Percent’. Fans are eagerly waiting to see how he will further develop this character.

Meanwhile, MBC’s ‘Fifty Percent’ starring Lee Hak-joo will air on May 23 at 9:50 PM.
