The contestant known as “SNU Jung In,” who was eliminated in the second round of ‘Hidden Singer 8’, revealed that she had previously appeared as an impersonator for Uhm Jung Hwa.
In the second round of JTBC’s variety show ‘Hidden Singer 8’ aired on May 26, singer Jung In competed against four impersonators with the song ‘I Hate You’.
When Jun Hyun Moo asked, “What do you mean by receiving help from Baek Z Young for this difficult song?”, Jung In replied, “Back then, wasn’t Baek Z Young the textbook of ballads? I studied her style extensively while researching how to approach the song.”
Jung In’s husband and fellow singer Jo Jung Chi joked about contestant number 4, saying, “I’ve met that person before,” and added, “I can have a past, right?” Jung In teased him back, noting that he was leaning into a “strange character” that might be hard for the general public to accept.
The second impersonator was eliminated in the second round. Her identity was revealed as Ko Ye Rin, known as “SNU Jung In.” She explained, “I am a Physical Education student who possesses wisdom, virtue, and physical strength. During my freshman year, there was a large event in my department attended by professors and students. A professor asked if I knew Leessang’s ‘Ballerino’, so I watched a live video from ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook’ and sang it confidently. People told me I sounded just like Jung In, so I was called the ‘Physical Education Jung In’.”
Jung In was shocked by her talent, saying, “I naturally assumed she was a professional singer because she’s so good.” Jun Hyun Moo then mentioned that she looked familiar to Song Eun Yi. Ko Ye Rin then revealed, “Actually, four years ago, I appeared as an impersonator for Uhm Jung Hwa on ‘Hidden Singer’.”
