Singer and entertainer Kim Jong-min has teamed up with Professor Seo Kyoung-duk of Sungshin Women’s University to produce and release a video about the natural monument, Dokdo.
The two collaborated with the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation Content Agency to create a multilingual video titled “Dokdo Rocks, History to Know.”
The video, which is approximately 4 minutes and 30 seconds long, has been released in Korean and English for both domestic and international audiences. It emphasizes that Dokdo, consisting of hundreds of rocks, is a massive ecological museum designated as Natural Monument No. 336.
Specifically, the video provides detailed introductions to Haenyeo Rock, where Jeju haenyeo (female divers) once conducted economic activities, and Gaje Rock, which was the habitat of the Dokdo sea lions that became extinct due to overfishing by Imperial Japan.

Professor Seo stated, “I planned this video to introduce the stories of the rocks, which are the living history and records of Dokdo, to people at home and abroad in a more accessible and interesting way.”
Kim Jong-min is one of the celebrities who has visited Dokdo most frequently. When filming KBS2’s ‘2 Days & 1 Night’ in 2012, he became a hot topic for his response to the production team’s question about why he was going to Dokdo, saying, “It’s my home, so I have to go.” He has a deep connection with Dokdo, having featured in related episodes of ‘2 Days & 1 Night’ in late 2022 and again in 2025.
He added, “I am happy to convey the history of Dokdo’s rocks through my voice, and I hope many netizens both in Korea and abroad will watch it.”
Additionally, Season 2 of the animation ‘Gangchi Island,’ produced by the Content Agency with Dokdo and the sea as its backdrop, is scheduled to premiere on KBS2 on the afternoon of the 6th.
