New from THE BOYZ has finally spoken up to clear the air regarding misunderstandings about him staying with their agency.
On the 1st, New shared via a fan communication platform, “I haven’t been sufficiently shared official documents or specific details regarding the lawsuit against the company, unlike what is currently being discussed.” He further clarified, “I never made a decision to stay with the company after having sufficient conversations.”
Back in March, nine members of THE BOYZ (Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, Q, Sunwoo, and Eric) notified One Hundred Label of their intent to terminate their exclusive contracts. At the time, representatives announced that New had decided to maintain his contract after “sufficient consultation.” However, New has now drawn a line, stating, “The articles were just written that way; I never personally said I would stay.”
Explaining why he didn’t join the lawsuit, New revealed a communication gap among the members, saying, “The members didn’t ask me to join the lawsuit. I only found out after the certification of contents was sent.” He suggested he remained silent until now out of responsibility for the team, noting, “Otherwise, we wouldn’t have been able to complete the concerts and schedules the members and I prepared.”
Controversy has been growing as his actions during THE BOYZ’s recent ‘INTER-ZECTION’ concert have come back into the spotlight. During the three-day event starting on the 24th, New appeared unstable, missing some performances or leaving the stage immediately after finishing his own parts.
This led to disappointment among fans, with some commenting, “It was hard to watch him constantly leaving the stage,” “It’s baffling that their paths are diverging at such a critical time for the team,” and “Why even do the concert if this was the case?”
On the other hand, some fans expressed support, saying, “It feels sincere when he says it wasn’t a decision to choose one side over another,” and “He must have been in pain if he was the only one who didn’t know the situation.”
New appealed to fans, saying, “I never wanted to hurt anyone, so I hope there are no misunderstandings. I’m speaking up now after holding it in. Why would I lie at this point?”
As the legal battle between One Hundred and the nine members intensifies, New’s denial of the agreement—after being categorized as “staying”—brings a new turn to THE BOYZ’s future team operations and the recovery of relationships between the members.
