Their music charts are skyrocketing! The pre-release track “Red Red” climbed to #4 on the Melon Top 100 (as of the 5th), marking a new career high for the team. After entering in the late 90s, the song surged to the top thanks to word-of-mouth, proving they have captured the general public’s heart beyond just their fandom. They also entered the Billboard Global 200 and Global (excluding US) charts, and hit #91 on Spotify’s Daily Top Artists Global, setting a record for the highest rank among K-pop boy groups that debuted within the last five years.

A huge part of their success comes from the members’ high level of involvement. After grabbing attention with their fresh music and styling at debut, all members of Cortis have built the team’s identity by directly participating in the production of music, choreography, and videos. All five members are listed in the album credits and were involved in the overall performance and concept creation. They are being praised for building an image as a “creator-type group” that produces their own results rather than just being idols for consumption, which aligns with the recent trend of fans consuming the group itself as a content brand.

This strategy has led to an even stronger impact on short-form platforms. Their unpolished side, such as comic videos filmed in old-school shops and daily life content, has been embraced for its relatability. This is analyzed as fitting perfectly with Gen Z’s preference for teams they can grow with, rather than “perfect stars.” In fact, Cortis emerged as a “short-form powerhouse” immediately upon debut, surpassing 10 million followers on Instagram and TikTok early this year, the fastest record for any K-pop boy group debuting in the last five years.
Pop culture critic Ha Jae-geun analyzed, “While the recent K-pop market has developed around sophisticated world-views and high-completion systems, Cortis is a team that differentiated itself by showcasing natural and raw emotions within that flow.” He added, “In a situation where the K-pop market is being evaluated as increasingly standardized, the appearance of a team like Cortis is creating a new trend.”
