Actress Ki Eun-se has personally stepped forward to apologize regarding the “nuisance construction” controversy surrounding the interior renovations of her home in Pyeongchang-dong.
On the 8th, Ki Eun-se shared a lengthy message sent to a resident who had expressed grievances on her SNS, bowing her head in apology. “First, I am sorry for causing you inconvenience,” she stated. She explained that the project took longer than expected, partly because it spanned through the winter. “I asked for understanding and greeted the residents of the same villa, but it was my mistake not to consider the surrounding houses,” she apologized.
She added, “Since the building itself has no elevator, a crane had to be brought in, and many unexpected situations arose during the process.” She noted that there are about two weeks of construction left and promised to be as mindful as possible, adding, “I will visit and greet you in person before I move in.”
Along with this, Ki Eun-se shared photos of herself cleaning the area around the construction site, stating, “I am cleaning the site every single day.”
Previously, a netizen claiming to be a resident of Pyeongchang-dong alleged on SNS that Ki Eun-se’s house construction had caused ongoing issues with traffic obstruction, noise, dust, and construction waste. The user expressed frustration, claiming, “It seems like she’s trying to brush off the uncomfortable situation just because she’s a celebrity,” which led to the controversy spreading online.
As the situation escalated, her agency stated they had apologized to the residents and taken necessary measures. However, public sentiment soured again after Ki Eun-se posted a message saying, “I wish it were a warm world,” along with another video of the construction site. Consequently, Ki Eun-se deleted the video and attempted to resolve the issue by posting a second apology and proof of her cleaning efforts.
Meanwhile, in 2023, Ki Eun-se announced her divorce from a Korean-American businessman 12 years her senior after 11 years of marriage.
