Lee Ji-hyun, a former member of the girl group Jewelry, has candidly shared her feelings about leaving the group.
On the 6th, Lee Ji-hyun appeared in a video titled “Jewelry’s scary unnies that even the great Seo In-young can’t handle (+Park Jung-ah, Lee Ji-hyun)” on the YouTube channel ‘개과천선 서인영’.
In the video, Lee Ji-hyun, Park Jung-ah, and Seo In-young looked back on their days active in Jewelry.
Regarding her reason for leaving, Lee Ji-hyun revealed, “I was very sick. I debuted at 15 and lived my life knowing nothing but broadcasting stations.” She added, “I wanted to experience the world outside of broadcasting and find out who I really was. Honestly, I just wanted to have some fun.”
Park Jung-ah commented, “She’s the type to feel everyone’s energy, so she was completely exhausted. I thought it was time for her to go,” while Seo In-young added, “When she said she was quitting, I honestly couldn’t stop her.”
Lee Ji-hyun admitted, “At first, it was great. I was happy just watching TV comfortably at home.” She continued, “When I saw them taking helicopters to events after ‘One More Time’ became a huge hit, I thought, ‘How much money is that?’ I’m only human, so I thought about the money.”
Seo In-young joked, “Honestly, I think they made billions back then? It’s amazing that there’s nothing left now. We bought clothes and shoes. And I had my own activities with ‘Cinderella’.”
Lee Ji-hyun left Jewelry in 2006 after the group’s 4th album promotions ended.
