“310 Billion Won Queen” Hong Jin-kyung Torn Between Paris Runway and Kimchi Dumplings!

On the show ‘Sora and Jin-kyung’, entertainer Hong Jin-kyung found herself conflicted between her identity as a fashion model and a businesswoman.

In the MBC episode aired on the 3rd, fashion week veteran Han Hye-jin and Hong Jin-kyung, who is preparing to challenge the Paris Collection, sat down for a chat.

Hong Jin-kyung asked, “Honestly, how did you feel when you heard I was challenging the Paris Collection?” Han Hye-jin jokingly replied, “There are times when people go a bit crazy. That’s usually when they’re too comfortable,” sparking laughter.

Hong Jin-kyung confessed, “I don’t have high expectations of walking the Paris runway. Even if I fail everything, I’m still at a baseline. I can just go to Paris and see the Eiffel Tower. After all, isn’t this just for a variety show?”

Han Hye-jin immediately drew a line, saying, “I don’t think you should go with that mindset.” Hong honestly admitted, “Otherwise, I’d be too embarrassed if I failed everything…”

Han Hye-jin emphasized, “You must go with the mindset that you will definitely do at least one proper show. Only when you think like that is there a chance it might actually happen.”

She added, “Paris is a city of dreams and a dream stage. The models who go there put their lives on the line. Going there thinking ‘Will I even make it?’ could actually be disrespectful.”

Han continued to encourage her, saying, “You have a face that works in Paris. Wake up the fashion model DNA flowing in your blood.” She gave some tough love, adding, “You need to audition as if there’s no tomorrow. With that rotten mindset, you’ll be kicking yourself in regret on the flight back to Korea.”

The conversation then shifted to more realistic worries. When Han Hye-jin imagined a successful scenario in Paris, Hong Jin-kyung expressed deep concern, saying, “I’d have to skip all the filming for ‘Problem Child in House’ and ‘Doraiver’. What about my kimchi business? I have to sell kimchi dumplings too!”

Even in this imaginary scenario, she admitted, “I’m going crazy worrying about it. I hope that situation doesn’t actually happen. It would be the hardest situation. I think I’d be so conflicted,” showing her pressure.

Meanwhile, Hong Jin-kyung has become a hot topic for recording cumulative sales of 310 billion won through her kimchi brand launched in 2004. She also drew attention by revealing her three-story mansion in Pyeongchang-dong on her YouTube channel. Hong Jin-kyung married a businessman five years her senior in 2003 and built a family for 22 years, welcoming her daughter Lael in 2010. Later, on August 6, she shared the news of her divorce after 22 years of marriage.
