‘House of Peace’ has created another legendary episode, perfectly capturing the essence of black comedy.

Popular creators Baek Jin-kyung and Yoo Byung-kwon, alongside comedian Kim Ji-yu, brought massive laughs to viewers with their fantastic comic chemistry in the black sitcom ‘House of Peace’ (produced by Duho Corporation).

In the recently released EP.13 titled ‘GED Tattoo’ on the YouTube channel ‘Meme Studio’, Kim Ji-yu makes a surprise visit to the boarding house of Grace (played by Baek Jin-kyung) and Jacqueline (played by Yoo Byung-kwon), carrying a basket of rice cakes for sale.

The highlight of the episode was the reveal of their real names and their high school days. The laughter started early when their nostalgic real names, ‘Kim Ji-ja’ (Kim Ji-yu), ‘Kim Bok-ja’ (Grace), and ‘Cho Kyu-ran’ (Jacqueline), were revealed behind their sophisticated current names. Kim Ji-yu especially caught attention with her sly acting, fully immersing herself in the role of ‘Ji-ja’, a tough mother raising six children alone after the passing of her husband.

The flashback scenes to their high school days were a masterpiece, featuring the trio’s passionate acting in school uniforms. In a surprising twist, it was revealed that unlike her current image, Kim Ji-yu used to relentlessly bully Yoo Byung-kwon during their school years. The bickering and comic timing between Kim Ji-yu and Yoo Byung-kwon, combined with Baek Jin-kyung’s natural acting as the mediator who kept the sitcom’s rhythm, took the entertainment to the next level.

Toward the end, Yoo Byung-kwon feels pity rather than a desire for revenge upon seeing his former enemy’s holey socks, creating a “laugh-cry” pathos typical of black sitcoms. He triggered bursts of laughter until the very end by giving Kim Ji-yu an envelope of money and even taking off his own socks to give to her in a “heartwarming” (?) gesture of friendship.

The ‘GED Tattoo’ episode, which showcased the trio’s seamless chemistry and natural acting, is currently recording high view counts, once again proving the unique identity of ‘House of Peace’.
