Shim Hye-jin Recalls Her Legendary Triple Crown Sweep of Best Actress Awards in a Single Year

Shim Hye-jin recently took a trip down memory lane to revisit her stunning career achievements.

On the May 11 broadcast of SBS Power FM’s “Park Ha-sun’s Cine Town,” Shim Hye-jin, who once hosted the show herself, made a special appearance.

During the show, Park Ha-sun shared a message from a listener who reminisced about Shim Hye-jin’s iconic films, such as “Ginkgo Bed,” “Green Fish,” and “The Runaway Park Bong-gon,” noting that the actress still looks exactly the same as she did back then.

Park Ha-sun then highlighted a legendary feat: in 1996, Shim Hye-jin achieved a “Triple Crown” by winning Best Actress at Korea’s three major award ceremonies: the Blue Dragon Film Awards, the Grand Bell Awards, and the Baeksang Arts Awards. Even more impressive is that she won these awards for three different projects in a single year, a record that remains unbroken to this day.

Park Ha-sun detailed the wins, noting that she won the Baeksang Arts Award for “Go Alone Like a Rhinoceros Horn,” the Blue Dragon for “The Runaway Park Bong-gon,” and the Grand Bell for “Ginkgo Bed.”

Reacting to this, Shim Hye-jin expressed surprise, saying, “I didn’t even realize this was a thing!” She added, “People were so kind to give me those big awards, but at the time, I didn’t fully realize how amazing it was. I feel very proud now that there are still people who remember it.”
