Actress Kang Ye-won recently opened up about how her daily life has changed after undergoing epicanthoplasty restoration surgery.
On the 11th, a video titled “Kang Ye-won ‘Epicanthoplasty Restoration Behind-the-Scenes, Finally Revealing Everything | 9-year Best Friend & Pilates Reality'” was uploaded to her YouTube channel, ‘Kkang Ye-won’.
While taking a class, Kang Ye-won chatted with the Pilates director, who is also a close friend. It turns out this director was the one who recommended the epicanthoplasty restoration surgery that sparked so much interest.
Kang Ye-won explained, “This friend received a lot of hate. After I mentioned the restoration surgery on ‘No Back’, people reacted by saying things like ‘The younger friend who told her to do it is wrong’ or ‘She ruined her life.’ But when I showed her photos of myself in my early 20s, she told me I looked much better then and that I should get the restoration surgery.”

The friend then recommended the procedure after seeing another member at the center who had undergone the same surgery. Kang Ye-won shared, “I felt like my eyes were too open and looked clustered, which was scary. But she gave me hope that I could change it, so I had the surgery. Thanks to her, I found my old face. It used to bother me while acting, so she’s a savior who gave me a chance to start my life anew,” expressing her deep gratitude.
Kang Ye-won added, “People don’t recognize me well. Please recognize me!” However, she also admitted the perks, saying, “There’s a comfortable side to it. Now people recognize me by my voice. I can stand at a tteokbokki shop eating fish cakes or just walk around, and since no one stares, it’s very relaxing.”
Meanwhile, Kang Ye-won debuted in the SBS sitcom ‘Honey Honey’ and has appeared in movies such as ‘Harmony’, ‘Irregular Special Agent’, and ‘The Bad Guys: The Movie’, as well as dramas like ‘Baek Hee Has Returned’ and ‘The Man Who Dies to Live’. She recently experienced the pain of losing her father.
