When a solo artist can keep an audience completely captivated for 210 minutes without a single lull, it is more than just a concert—it is an “overwhelming artistic achievement.”
This was exactly the case during the Seoul encore performances of the “2025-2026 Lee Chan-won Concert Changa: Brilliant Day,” held on May 9 and 10 at the KSPO DOME in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
On this stage, Lee Chan-won did more than just signal the end of his national tour; he showcased his maturity as a musician who appeals to all generations and presented a perfect blueprint for the future of K-Trot.

What is even more impressive than the numbers is his “expansion of musical territory.” The title track “Today for Some Reason,” written by Roy Kim and composed by Cho Young-soo, topped the Bugs real-time music chart despite being a pop-style country track, which is rare for a trot singer. Furthermore, the 12 songs on the album span a surprising variety of genres, including ballads, eurodance, soft rock, and jazz. This clearly shows Lee Chan-won’s smart ambition to embrace contemporary pop sensibilities rather than staying confined within the narrow frame of traditional trot.

In the second part of the show, he built an emotional narrative with songs like “My Long Journey” and “Mother’s Spring Day.” His a cappella performances of “Myeong-ja,” “18-year-old Suni,” and “Chilgapsan” left the entire dome in breathless silence, powered solely by his incredible vocal talent.

The most striking sight was the diversity of the crowd. From traditional trot fans in their 60s and older to young listeners in their 20s and 30s, different generations waved the same lightsticks and cheered for Lee Chan-won. His ability to attract the youth with country pop and jazz while stirring nostalgia in the older generation with deep, traditional trot is his true, irreplaceable weapon for uniting all ages.

As the final song “Sijeol Inyeon” echoed through the venue at the end of this intense and beautiful 210-minute journey, a deep lingering emotion settled over the crowd, transcending generations. Even without the flashy records or titles, he is a singer who shines brightest when connecting with his audience. We are already eagerly awaiting the next chapter of K-Trot that Lee Chan-won will build on the solid foundation of sincerity.
