Kim Hyung-mook is winning over viewers with his incredibly realistic acting!
In the May 9 and 10 episodes of the KBS 2TV weekend drama Love Prescription, Kim Hyung-mook maximized the charm of his character, Yang Dong-ik, by delicately portraying a whirlwind of complex emotions.
In episode 29 (aired May 9), Yang Dong-ik showed his jealousy toward Gong Jeong-han (played by Kim Seung-soo). During a meal with his father, Yang Seon-chul (played by Ju Jin-mo), he complained, “Why am I so unpopular?” and added, “(Since the ‘People’s Theater’ broadcast) I’m only getting hate comments, while Gong Jeong-han’s videos only have positive ones,” bringing a laugh to the audience.
While visiting the clinic, Yang Dong-ik witnessed Gong Jeong-han signing autographs for a patient. Gong Dae-han (played by Choi Dae-chul) suggested the patient get Yang Dong-ik’s signature as well, but the patient quickly declined and ran away.
This left Yang Dong-ik with a bitter expression, radiating a “pathetic yet pitiful” charm. Later, he asked Gong Jeong-han to increase his screen time for the next day’s shoot, but Gong Jeong-han coldly told him to get out.
Yang Dong-ik expressed his frustration, saying, “People misunderstand me as a fake and calculating person.” When Gong Jeong-han received a new casting offer, Yang Dong-ik’s jealous reaction and sudden exit left viewers in stitches.
Episode 30 (aired May 10) dove deeper into Yang Dong-ik’s anxious and complicated inner world. During a conversation with Yang Hyun-bin (played by Park Ki-woong), he revealed that he began doubting people after his ex-wife’s affair. He confessed that this is why he has been tracking the location of his new wife, Cha Se-ri (played by So Yi-hyun), for 15 years.
He shared the heartbreaking sentiment that he feels even more anxious precisely because he trusts Cha Se-ri. After returning home from a rare date, Yang Dong-ik couldn’t hide his panic when Cha Se-ri mentioned she had a gathering the next day.
While Cha Se-ri stepped away for a moment, Yang Dong-ik’s anxiety got the best of him, and he was caught secretly checking her phone. Kim Hyung-mook heightened the immersion of the drama by multi-dimensionally expressing a mix of guilt and anxiety.
Fans are now eager to see what other sides of Yang Dong-ik Kim Hyung-mook will reveal in Love Prescription.
Love Prescription airs every Saturday and Sunday at 8 PM on KBS 2TV.
