Director Yoo In-sik of the upcoming series ‘Wonderfuls’ has shared his thoughts on actor Cha Eun-woo’s tax evasion controversy.

‘Wonderfuls’ recently became a hot topic when news of Cha Eun-woo’s tax issues broke just before its release. Regarding this, Director Yoo In-sik explained, “I learned about the news after the editing and post-production were already finished. As I’ve mentioned, this project was a long-time dream of mine, and everyone involved worked incredibly hard on every single second. I prioritized the overall completeness of the drama. I ask for your understanding that I cannot comment on personal issues.”
While the pairing of Park Eun-bin and Cha Eun-woo initially sparked excitement, the tax allegations led to questions about whether the show would still be released. It was reported that the Seoul Regional Tax Office notified Cha Eun-woo of a tax collection amounting to 20 billion won following an intense investigation last year. However, the amount was recently reduced to 13 billion won, which Cha Eun-woo has reportedly paid in full.
Regarding Cha Eun-woo’s performance, the director added, “It must have been a new challenge for all the actors. The ensemble only works when that’s executed well. Cha Eun-woo was just as passionate as the other actors, and I am satisfied with the result.”
Park Eun-bin also shared, “From the start of preparations, the director always emphasized the team chemistry. He put a lot of thought into that. Now that the work, created through everyone’s best efforts, is finally being released, please tune in and watch it.”
The Netflix series ‘Wonderfuls’ is a superpower comic adventure set at the end of the century in 1999. It follows a group of local misfits who unexpectedly gain superpowers and struggle to save the world from villains threatening peace. The series is highly anticipated as it reunites Director Yoo In-sik and Park Eun-bin, along with the production team loved for their work on ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’ and ‘Dr. Romantic’. Park Eun-bin, Cha Eun-woo, Choi Dae-hoon, and Im Sung-jae play Eun-chaeni, the official troublemaker of Haeseong City; Lee Un-jeong, a mysterious city hall official; Son Kyung-hoon, the city’s biggest nuisance; and Kang Ro-bin, the city’s biggest pushover, respectively. It premieres on the 15th.
