Comedian Lee Kyung-kyu has openly shared his past experience with a heart stent procedure and put an end to recent health rumors by appearing on a live broadcast, proving he is still as energetic as ever!
In a recent video on the YouTube channel ‘God Kyung-kyu’, Jung Ji-woong, the son of actor Jung Eun-pyo (who previously appeared on the SBS show ‘Bungeoppang’), made an appearance. Jung Ji-woong, currently a student at Seoul National University pursuing his dreams in music, received some realistic yet heartfelt advice from Lee Kyung-kyu. Lee shared, “You have to live doing what you love. We often sugarcoat things by saying money followed because we did what we loved, but the truth is, money doesn’t just follow. You have to work hard.”

He then naturally opened up about a past health crisis. Lee Kyung-kyu confessed, “My heart was blocked while I was in the middle of filming ‘Bungeoppang’.” He revealed that he went to the hospital for a stent procedure immediately after the shoot. Recalling the moment, he added, “But I didn’t hand the recording over to anyone else; I finished everything before heading to the hospital.”
This confession about his past heart procedure drew even more attention given the recent health rumors surrounding him. Some netizens had expressed concern about potential brain diseases or a cerebral hemorrhage after noticing him appearing tired and speaking slightly slurred in a YouTube video. In response, his agency clarified that it was simply a “temporary drop in condition due to lack of sleep.”
Lee Kyung-kyu effectively shut down these rumors by stepping onto a live stage. On the May 12th broadcast of KBS1’s ‘2026 FIFA North Central America World Cup D-30 For Victory!’, he appeared as the main MC alongside announcers Eom Ji-in and Nam Hyun-jong.

Having been a symbol of World Cup cheering culture through ‘Lee Kyung-kyu Goes’, he once again showcased his signature high-energy hosting. With clear pronunciation and a stable presence, he announced, “I plan to go to Guadalajara, Mexico, to deliver the local atmosphere vividly,” showing his undying passion for the World Cup. He also mentioned, “I’ve been visiting World Cup sites since 1994, and I’m going again with KBS,” all while keeping his famous “angry” hosting style and humor intact.
He further proved his status as the ‘Godfather of Variety’ by ramping up the atmosphere, shouting, “Don’t hesitate! You must cheer voluntarily. Republic of Korea!”
From confessing to a past stent procedure for blocked coronary arteries to debunking recent health rumors with a live comeback, Lee Kyung-kyu has once again answered concerns about his health with his trademark responsibility and professional spirit.
