GOT7’s Jinyoung is making a solo comeback! After being super active as an actor, Jinyoung is returning to his roots as a singer. This marks his first solo album release in about three years.
Jinyoung will drop his second mini album, ‘Said & Done’, on May 13 at 6 PM across all music platforms. The title ‘Said & Done’ carries the meaning that “love is what ultimately remains even after all languages and stories have passed.” The album is a collection of various emotions and memories from Jinyoung’s life, including childhood moments, music from different eras, and feelings that have faded over time. It tells a story about the one emotion that connects us in an ever-changing world: the thing that remains in the end.
The album features a total of six tracks across diverse genres, including the title track ‘EVERLOVE’, as well as ‘And Now’, ‘Seventeen’ (with DAY6 Wonpil), ‘Different Tracks’, ‘Will I Be Okay’, and ‘One-Sided Love’ (feat. Choi Yu-ree).
Through ‘Said & Done’, Jinyoung continues to build his own musical world, showcasing everything from danceable pop with a modern twist on 90s vibes to jazzy brass R&B and ethereal dream-pop. He also created musical synergy by collaborating with DAY6’s Wonpil on ‘Seventeen’ and singer-songwriter Choi Yu-ree on ‘One-Sided Love’, while working with producer Gurum to polish the album’s quality.
Since debuting in the music industry in 2012 with JJ Project and later promoting with GOT7, Jinyoung has shown off his incredible performance and vocal skills. Because both groups focused heavily on performance, fans have been able to see the charm of Jinyoung as a “performer.”
However, “solo singer” Jinyoung is a different story. When he released his first solo album in 2023, he participated in the lyrics, composition, and producing, showcasing his own musical narrative as a “singer-songwriter.” His more emotional and sophisticated sound gave fans a glimpse into his musicality, which is why K-pop listeners are so excited for his return.
Fans are especially thrilled because Jinyoung is returning to his “main job” after solidifying his position as an actor through appearances in dramas like ‘Unknown Seoul’ and ‘Shining’, as well as the movie ‘High Five’. Having developed his emotional depth through delicate acting in various works, there is a lot of curiosity about what kind of synergy he will bring back to his music.
