In episodes 7 and 8 of ENA’s Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Scarecrow’, Sun-young (played by Seo Ji-hye) faced a shocking series of events involving her fiancĂ©, Ki-bum (Song Geon-hee). After meeting a witness named Seok-man (Baek Seung-hwan), Sun-young immediately sensed he was the culprit upon seeing his limp, leaving her terrified. While her brother Tae-ju (Park Hae-soo) stepped in to arrest Seok-man, the situation took a tragic turn when Ki-bum suddenly passed away from sepsis. Overwhelmed by grief and unable to accept his death, Sun-young was diagnosed with short-term amnesia, a scene that left viewers heartbroken.
However, Sun-young’s world was flipped again when she accidentally overheard a conversation between Tae-ju and Ji-won (Kwak Sun-young), bringing back her forgotten memories and the brutal truth. After sending Tae-ju away on an errand to buy castella, Sun-young broke down in her empty home, releasing all her suppressed emotions before disappearing. It was later revealed that Prosecutor Si-young (Lee Hee-jun), who had seemed helpful, was actually the one who ordered Ki-bum’s illegal confinement. Sun-young was arrested after staging a protest with a blood-written letter. Despite Si-young’s claims that it was a misunderstanding, she unleashed her rage, slapping him relentlessly. This sudden shift from her previous demeanor to a state of uncontrolled fury pushed the drama’s tension to its peak.
Seo Ji-hye masterfully portrayed the character’s volatile emotional journey, ranging from short-term amnesia to desperate revenge and deep frustration, using her signature powerful vocals and expressive acting. Furthermore, her heart-wrenching performance in the holding cell, where she blamed herself for Ki-bum’s death, deeply moved the audience. Fans are now eagerly waiting to see how Seo Ji-hye will handle the heavy narrative and bold actions moving forward.
Seo Ji-hye first gained popularity through the 2017 Channel A show ‘Heart Signal’ and has since starred in dramas such as ‘My ID is Gangnam Beauty’ (2018), ‘Crime Puzzle’ (2021), ‘Suddenly Encountered You’ (2023), and ‘Family by Choice’ (2024). ‘Scarecrow’ airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 PM on ENA and is available via Genie TV and TVING.
