Actor Lee Yu-jin is stepping into the world of directing for the first time in ENA’s new variety show ‘Director’s Arena’! Fans are especially excited to hear that he will be reuniting with Director Lee Byung-hun, who worked with him on the 2019 JTBC drama ‘Be Melodramatic’.
Since his debut in the 2013 MBC drama ‘The Goddess of Fire’, Lee Yu-jin has shown stable acting skills in various works like ‘Age of Youth 2’, ‘Familiar Wife’, ‘Do You Like Brahms?’, and ‘Three Bold Siblings’. He also built a solid image on the big screen through films like ‘Two Men’ and ‘Be With You’. He was particularly praised for his realistic portrayal of PD Kim Hwan-dong in ‘Be Melodramatic’.
Coming from a “family of actors,” Lee Yu-jin is the son of veteran actress Lee Hyo-jung and the nephew of Lee Ki-young. After building a strong foundation at Dongguk University’s Department of Theatre, he is now trading the spotlight for the megaphone.
‘Director’s Arena’ is a survival program where experts from various fields, including actors, creators, and artists, plan and direct their own short dramas. In line with the short-form content era, participants must prove their storytelling abilities and directing style within a limited time. It stands out from other variety shows by deeply exploring the creative philosophy of the directors.
Now a 12-year veteran actor, Lee Yu-jin plans to pour his on-set experience and emotional interpretation skills into his directing. He shared his excitement, saying, “While active as an actor, I always held the dream of becoming a director in a corner of my heart.” You can catch Lee Yu-jin’s transformation from actor to director in the first episode of ‘Director’s Arena’ on ENA, airing May 15 at 11 PM.
