From 4 Million Won in Medical Bills to Euthanasia Suggestions: Kang Hyung-wook's Bold Decision on 'Time Between Dog and Wolf 2'

In ‘Time Between Dog and Wolf 2,’ Kang Hyung-wook stepped in to stop a mother owner who couldn’t stop her “kiss attacks” even after being bitten seven times. The 18th episode of Channel A’s dog rehabilitation reality show featured Dodi, a dog from Cheongju with unpredictable biting habits, and the mother owner who continued physical affection despite the repeated incidents.

Dodi, who survived alone after losing siblings and lacking care from its mother, was eventually adopted by a family that provided devoted care, including cataract surgery. However, despite the family’s love, Dodi began showing unpredictable aggression, leaving the owners distressed.

Dodi’s excitement was so extreme that even simple vaccinations at the animal hospital were difficult, and the dog showed aggression toward other dogs during walks. In one severe incident, Dodi suddenly attacked an owner during sleep, biting and shaking their entire arm. The medical bills reached 4 million won, and the hospital even suggested euthanasia, but the owners refused to give up on Dodi.

A bigger issue was the owner’s way of expressing love. The mother owner continued “kiss attacks,” touching and kissing Dodi while the dog was resting or sleeping, even when Dodi sent signals of refusal. MC Kim Sung-joo empathized, noting that even humans have times when they reject physical touch, while observing the owner’s excessive affection with concern.

Kang Hyung-wook pointed out, “The owner’s physical affection seems like a potent poison. I think it might feel suffocating.” He diagnosed that Dodi’s family needed “training to subtract” rather than adding more. In a first for the show, he recommended a book before providing a solution. He suggested the book “I Thought I Was a Good Mother” to the owner, advising her to learn how to let go of excessive affection and consideration.

During the subsequent home visit solution, Dodi resisted the new controls strongly, even biting the leash. However, once the owners maintained a consistent attitude without walking on eggshells, Dodi gradually calmed down and sat quietly beside the father owner. The change in Dodi, alongside the owners letting go of excessive affection, brought a heartwarming conclusion. Channel A’s dog solution variety show ‘Time Between Dog and Wolf 2,’ featuring Kim Sung-joo, Kang Hyung-wook, and special MC Han Seung-yeon, airs every Wednesday at 10 PM.
